Illustration Friday: Swamp

Some time ago I painted symbols for elements. These are Earth and Water - which may add up to a swamp. I had another illustration which would perhaps match the topic, but I have already posted it on IF.

Why did I draw him hanging that way? Hmm, I think this kind of bondage looks some kind more cruel than just nails through his hands (Sounds strange, but I guess that this was my ulterior motive).

There is no special inspiration behind this drawing. I just started and looked what came out.

Strange building, looking like an animal (?), perhaps like an insect. The front tower section reminds me a little too much of a head: windows like eyes and decorative objects like teeth. I want to try to get a little more away from that.

These are several object sketches I did some time ago. The first one looks like some kind of statue - I have no idea wether it would be rather large or small if built in reality.

 

This second and the third one look more like spires on some strange buildings, at least I thought of something like this when I did those.

I am not sure what to think about this one. Making it was a lot of fun. Much more fun than its vile look may foretell. It is not actually a coloured drawing - it is rather an overdrawin collection of colour spots. I started with a soft red (some may call it pink) and switched over to cold blue later - I wonder if that was a good decision.

Well, I decided to upload this one because of the colours I used when I painted it. Taking a closer look at it now I think the mouth could use some more shading, especially the teeth.
Each colour apart from the others could appear in something healthy and delicious, but together they look pretty unhealthy...
